The Outlet Program supports and empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth ages 13-18 living on the San Francisco Peninsula . Through youth groups, counseling, mentoring, leadership training, and advocacy, Outlet has been a critical resource for LGBTQQ teens since 1997. Outlet is a sponsored project of the Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC), which provides mental health counseling for children and their families in the Mountain View , Los Altos , Los Altos Hills and surrounding communities. Job Summary:
The Director of the Outlet Program, a CHAC Associate Director, is responsible for the successful overall management and direction of the organization. The Director's main responsibilities include fund development and communications, financial management, program management and implementation, staff and volunteer management, and representing the Outlet Program on various coalitions, community work groups, and in the community at large. The Director will work closely with the Outlet Advisory Board, Assistant Director, and the CHAC Executive Director in building and leading the organization. The Director will have the opportunity to exercise entrepreneurial thinking and strategic planning as the Outlet Program is poised to grow.
Responsibilities:
Manage and implement the Outlet annual fund development plan with a minimum goal of $105,000 in conjunction with the Advisory Board including individual donor appeals, special events, and grant research/writing.
Produce communications pieces including the annual report, newsletters, and website.
Manage grant objectives and prepare grant reports along with the Assistant Director.
Manage public relations and marketing efforts to youth, volunteers, donors, and community at large in conjunction with Advisory Board.
Ensure programming is aligned with mission of Outlet and CHAC.
Research and develop programming in conjunction with Assistant Director, Advisory Board, and CHAC Executive Director.
Ensure successful implementation of all programming with Assistant Director including occasionally delivering professional trainings and workshops, facilitating youth groups, and monitoring youth events.
Establish program outcomes and goals with Assistant Director.
Oversee evaluation process and reporting in conjunction with Assistant Director.
Manage and develop staff, interns, and volunteers.
Ensure appropriate volunteer recruitment, training, matching, management, evaluation, and recognition in conjunction with Assistant Director.
Develop and manage overall budget in conjunction with the Assistant Director, CHAC Finance Director, and CHAC Executive Director.
Produce financial reports and updates for funders in conjunction with CHAC Finance Director.
Advisory Board Development & Management: 10%
Identify and recruit new members in conjunction with Advisory Board Chair.
Develop and support members in their work.
Facilitate clear and timely communications with and among Advisory Board.
Build and maintain strategic community partnerships and collaborations in conjunction with Assistant Director, Advisory Board, and CHAC Executive Director.
Represent and promote Outlet in the community and in coalitions in conjunction with the Assistant Director, Advisory Board, and CHAC Executive Director.
